About the work

Dans cet exercice, j’ai choisi de recréer l’environnement sonore d’une caméra de surveillance située dans un parc d’attraction. Mon intention était d’adopter le point de vue de cette caméra, fixe et distante, qui observe sans intervenir.

À partir des éléments visuels, j’ai imaginé les sons pouvant exister dans cet espace. L’ambiance générale se construit autour de sons naturels comme le vent et les oiseaux, qui installent un cadre extérieur vivant mais relativement calme. À cela s’ajoute la présence d’un bourdon ou d’une tondeuse à gazon. En parallèle, des sons liés à l’activité du parc viennent enrichir la scène : les enfants qui jouent, ainsi que des éléments sonores issus des attractions, comme la baleine et le pirate. La publicité diffusée sur un écran introduit également une présence artificielle et répétitive, contrastant avec les sons naturels.

In this exercise, I chose to recreate the sound environment of a surveillance camera located in an amusement park. My intention was to adopt the point of view of this camera fixed and distant observing without intervening. Based on the visual elements, I imagined the sounds that could exist in this space. The overall atmosphere is built around natural sounds such as wind and birds, establishing an outdoor setting that feels alive yet relatively calm. Added to this is the presence of a buzzing insect or a lawn mower. At the same time, sounds related to the park’s activity enrich the scene: children playing, as well as audio elements coming from attractions, such as the whale and the pirate. The advertisement broadcast on a screen also introduces an artificial and repetitive presence, contrasting with the natural sounds.

About the artist

Artiste sonore et visuelle installée en Valais, Sarah-Leeloo Brulhart explore la matérialité comme seuil de ré-ancrage sensoriel. Formée d’abord à la céramique, puis à la bande dessinée et à l’illustration, elle croise aujourd’hui argile, fibres, champs sonores et dispositifs performatifs dans le cadre du Bachelor en Arts visuels, option Art sonore, à l’EDHEA. Ses recherches interrogent l’intimité du corps, notamment menstruée ou traversée par l’anxiété, la dépression et les troubles alimentaires, et cherchent, par le son et le contact, à retisser un dialogue entre peau, matière et écoute intérieure.

Sound and visual artist based in Valais, Sarah-Leeloo Brulhart explores materiality as a threshold for sensory re-grounding. Initially trained in ceramics, then in comic art and illustration, she now combines clay, fibers, sound fields, and performative devices as part of a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts, with a focus on Sound Art, at the EDHEA.

Her research questions the intimacy of the body particularly in states such as menstruation or when affected by anxiety, depression, and eating disorders and seeks, through sound and touch, to reweave a dialogue between skin, material, and inner listening.
