About the work

The never ending flow of the traffic. The cry of the seagulls coming from far way. If we close our eyes, we would probably find ourselves at the beach. Therefore, the soundtrack, a five minute sound collage loop, only consists in audio footage recorded in the city. Waves provides a reflection on our daily lives, particularly our routines, which repeat indefinitely such as the audio and the vehicles that pass on the road.

About the artist

Donatien Carriedo-Boulland is an artist who works as a photographer and videographer. Highly influenced by dystopian literature, his work reflects a coldness reminiscent of the Düsseldorf school. The same way he captures the brutal aspect of industrial architecture, he observes human beings with a similar view : distant, detached and analytic. In his approch, he neither does seek to moralize or to oppose the good and the bad, he just sheds light upon fragments of humanity.
