About the work

In China, apart from the police using surveillance cameras, people voluntarily engage in the regulation of online speech. Extreme nationalism is fervent in observing the online discourse of the masses and reporting it to the state apparatus, leading to mutual betrayal and distrust among the populace. We chose a damaged and irreparable lens, continuously rotating and unable to focus, which has lost its function as a surveillance camera, much like those extreme nationalists who exhibit irrational behavior. The audio adopts a narrative structure, depicting the process from an initial plea for help to eventual complete abandonment. Regardless of the initial purpose, it ultimately becomes an insignificant reflection of the era.

About the artist

He Zhang, originaire de Chine, étudiante en deuxième année à l'ESAM en art, explore les liens entre l'homme, la politique, la technologie et la nature.Elle utilise principalement la technologie numérique comme moyen d'expression artistique.

Lin Qiu, originaire de Chine, étudiante en troisième année à l'ESAM en art, s'intéresse pour les relations interpersonnelles, les actions autonomes et les passifs, et les intentions sous-jacentes aux comportements, en utilisant diverses formes de projections.
